Gran Cafe Aquila

New restaurant: Gran Café Aquila, 1716 Chestnut - http://grancaffelaquila.com/
We shared 2 small plates - plenty of food and delicious. They also have a wine bar, pastries, candy, and gelato. Everything looks beautiful and tempting. I recommend it.

Thanks, Bonnie. Based on your comments, I just made a reservation for Sunday! Have you been to V street? It's yummy!

V Street and Charlie Was a Sinner

Yes. I have been to V Street. The food seemed tasty but extra spicy. It was very crowded and noisy, so I haven't been back there, but I will try it again. (Same owner as Vedge.) I recommend Charlie Was a Sinner, Vegan bar, on 13th St just south of Chestnut. Delicious vegan apps and fresh juices. (Same owner as Hip City Veg.) Neither of these places is open for lunch.

vegetarian restaurants

Bonnie, you really get around!! Will put those on our list. Do you know about the veggie place in Chinatown?

Asian veggie

Yes I have been to Charles Place and New Harmony in Chinatown and Su Xing at 15th & Sansom. I am not a big fan of mock meat. If you like Asian veg, I recommend Mi Lah, on 16th between Walnut and Locust. Really tasty food.

quiet restaurant

We went to Shiroi Hana tonight for Japanese food. It's simple, good, and quiet, despite being full most of the time we were there. It's on 15th Street between Locust and Walnut. I also like Mi Lah very much and the second floor is quiet.

Japanese restaurants

I agree that Shiroi Hana has delicious food and is quiet. Another excellent and quiet Japanese restaurant is Fuji Mountain on Chestnut between 20th & 21st. An excellent sushi bar is Machi on 20th St between Locust and Walnut - very creative rolls.
